What’s YouTube doing with these ads that take up most of their main page?
stevegraham:
Brandon Fletcher, what are your thoughts on this?
The first theory that comes to my mind is: AdSense’s ubiquity has led website visitors to “ad blindness”. In other words, since you can find an AdSense text ad on most web pages, visitors have become ignorant to them and regard it as irrelevant. It also doesn’t help that these ads are almost invariably targeted wrong. For example, my video on Vimeo about Thanksgiving has AdSense that’s displaying a road design company.
My solution for this is two-fold: Google can either re-design their text ads so people don’t completely brush them off as soon as they view them on a site. Or they can gather user information better so they can display more relevant advertisements - which I heard they’re working on. Or both.
You’re welcome, Steve.
I’m selling The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (Centennial Edition) in paperback for $5*. It’s in perfect condition. I’ve realized that I’ve put off reading the book because the font is too small for 400+ pages. If you’re not anal like me, you should buy it. I’ll use the money I receive to get the hardcover version on eBay.
* plus $3 for shipping.

Randomly went to go see this last night at 11:30pm with my girlfriend - most insane movie I’ve seen in years. May watch again.
