Eliminating what doesn’t add value, adds value.
The only man capable of experiencing a profound romantic love is the man driven by passion for his work — because love is an expression of self-esteem, of the deepest values in a man’s or a woman’s character. One falls in love with the person who shares these values. If a man has no clearly defined values, and no moral character, he is not able to appreciate another person.

There is not a major philosopher of Western history since Socrates who didn’t discover that knowing yourself is the foundation for everything else … To do that you must examine every influence that became a part of you …

The ideal hireling is reflexively obedient, cheerfully enthusiastic about following orders, ever eager to please. Training for this position begins in the first grade with the word, “don’t”.

Let's Talk: Reality

Do you honestly believe you’re going to accomplish something outside of the norm in life, based on your rate of productivity in the past few days/months/years? Or is it just a comforting thought that you replay in your mind so that you can continue to slack off? Come on, seriously, give it some thought. Oh! I know; you’re still young and have plenty of time!

The reason I ask is this: everyday I read or see evidence of someone evading reality. Usually it’s a person blogging about their goals (eg. starting a company, “living happily”, etc.) but say they’re waiting until they “graduate school” (or some other false hurdle) to pursue it. In the mean time, they take a shitty job at the local mall, watch TV all day, and live satisfied.

So, my question is; can you honestly say that you’re not one of these people? If so, do you have evidence that you’re being honest with yourself? Or are you so accustomed to evading reality that you can’t give the question any critical debate?
